Components of leadership
Leaders illustrate the image of the future. This image shows the organizational path and serves as a tool for driving success in the organizations. Leaders inspire and motivate the employees by designing the organization’s practices. Preparing a clear vision for the organization is one of the most crucial activities for leaders. This vision should include and identify the building blocks of success.
Inculcating values such as high quality, confidence, fairness, loyalty, and responsibility toward customers and employees is as important as providing a clear-sighted vision.
There is a superior skilled leader in every high-performing team that is efficient and accountable. These skills are a composition of the major components. At least four components have been recognized as the main ingredients of efficient leadership.
A considerable part of this composition is related to the ability to utilize organizational power in the best possible manner. Although there are several bases of power in the organization, the power generally arises from the position in the organization. So, a leader must use his power efficiently as power is an influential tool throughout the organization.
Another crucial piece of skillful leadership is understanding the employee’s differences in terms of motivations, situation, and characters. This capability is related to the basic understanding of human nature. Leaders who are aware of people’s complicated incentives and needs have better performance than leaders who do not understand the human-beings.
Another essential leadership attribute is the ability to encourage and inspire people. This ability refers to the power of developing a motivating work environment that conducts people to become the best version of themselves. Leaders need to have charismatic qualities and magnetic personalities to persuade and convince employees to reach organizational and personal goals.
The fourth aspect of successful leadership is directly related to the power of designing appropriate methods for satisfying employees. This is mainly associated with leadership behavior. This aspect is important because satisfied employees will apply their potentials and competencies to their work. Generally, employees enthusiastically follow leaders who assist them in attaining their goals.
