What happened in 6th NTELT
International Conferences on New Trends in English Language Teaching and Testing
The 6th International Conference on “New Trends in English Language Teaching and Testing” took place in Hilton Istanbul Kozyatagi, Istanbul, Turkey on 8th September 2018. Researchers from different countries in the field of language teaching and testing, SLA, TESOL, and Applied Linguistics participated in the conference to share the findings of their research.
It was a great honor to have world top distinguished professors as keynote speakers:
B. Kumaravadivelu, Professor of Applied Linguistics and TESOL at San José State University, California and Shawn Loewen, Professor at Michigan State University.

Fortunately, like the previous NTELT Conferences, we received positive feedback from the participants. Here you may find some of the participants’ testimonials:
“Rana Khan Mohammed Ishaque, Algonquin College, Kuwait”
The NTELT Conference, Istanbul was a great experience academically. It was very professionally organized and covered varied aspects of language learning and assessment.
The presentations were very informative, and I could bring loads of information with me that I can use in my professional teaching life. It was an honor to hear Dr. Kumaravadivelu and Dr. Shawn Lowen. In brief, it was a wonderful academic experience, I wouldn’t want to miss.

I think NTELTISTANBUL conference is very inspiring and successful.
First, the two keynote speakers, both of whom I admire very much, delivered insightful and practical speeches. Professor Kumaravadivelu suggests a new PPP to us. When I came back to China, I talked with my friends regarding this new PPP. All of them agreed. I am not flattering here, but I would like to say this PPP idea agrees with me.
I have always been holding the idea that a teacher should first understand and know their context, particularly their students. Professor Loewen suggests that teachers should be researchers too. I am now doing teacher evaluation in China, and this idea would ignite many a teacher. Yet, there is a far way to go to change how they think. Other speakers, including me, haha, did a good job too.
There were some speeches really offering me quite much information. I especially like the speech regarding 21st-century teachers’ ideology. Looking forward to watching the video and seeing the live pictures.
Also, Istanbul is an amazing city. I went around and even went to Cappadocia and I made some friends during the conference and would communicate with them in the up-coming days.
I would definitely recommend this conference to teachers, researchers, and scholars I know, which I already did. And also I would like to attend NTELT conference again in the future.
“Rimma A. Ivanova, Assistant Professor, Candidate of Philology. Sc., Department of Applied Linguistics and Foreign Languages, Higher School of Economics – Nizhny Novgorod, Russia”
The conference was very representative, attended by a large number of teachers from different parts of the world.
it is possible for me to say that, on the one hand, the reports presented at the conference were very informative and showed a fairly high level of teachers’ professionalism, and, on the other hand, the speeches were devoted to various aspects of learning and testing students. I would like to note the excellent level of the prepared conference and emphasize the need for such meetings, which help to get better acquainted with the world experience in teaching English. I wish all of us met next time.
