Simon S. Gao
Qualifications
BA, PgC(Mgmt), MA, PhD, FHEA.
Simon is a Professor of Accounting and Finance at Edinburgh Napier University and has led the research development of accounting and finance since 1999. He has a Ph.D. from Erasmus University Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Currently, Simon is the accounting and finance research cluster leader at Edinburgh Napier Business School, and the Ph.D. program coordinator of the School of Accounting, Financial Services, and Law. Simon serves as an associate editor of Studies in Economics and Finance and the accounting editor of Afro-Asian Journal of Finance and Accounting. He serves as a member of the editorial board of seven international journals. Simon is also a visiting and guest professor at a number of overseas universities.
He has published three books and over sixty academic articles and led a number of research and consultancy projects. Simon’s work has appeared in among others Accounting, Business & Financial History; Accounting Education: An International Journal; Accounting Forum, Advances in International Accounting; Business Process Management Journal; European Journal of Finance, European Journal of Accounting, and International Small Business Journal. Simon has supervised 16 PhDs and been a Ph.D./DBA external examiner at a number of British, Australian and French universities. Simon has been an external examiner for the Association of International Accountants since 1998.
