Adem Soruç completed his Ph.D. at Yeditepe University, Istanbul, Turkey. He has worked as a postdoctoral researcher on EMI at the University of Oxford, and as Lecturer at Sakarya University ELT department in Turkey. He is now teaching as Lecturer at the University of Bath, UK. He is researching EMI, English as a Lingua Franca, learner identity, characteristics of good language learners, and issues related to instructed SLA, etc. He has published several articles and presented at many international conferences.
He is investigating authentic use of English in real contexts between speakers from diverse language backgrounds as well as the use of English as a medium of instruction by students whose mother tongue is not English. On the other hand, differently, he is also interested in second language acquisition theories especially covering topics regarding Instructed second language acquisition (Input processing and Processing Instruction).
