Susanne Shunnaq is a Vienna born English literature specialist who has recently joined the English Department at Sultan Qaboos University after a 14-year teaching, research, and administrative career in academia in the Middle East. She was awarded a Fulbright scholarship to finish her graduate studies in the USA where she received her Ph.D. in Modern and Contemporary American Literature in the year 2000. Upon her graduation, she accepted a position at Yarmouk University, Jordan, where she continued her long years of dedication to the acquisition of the Arabic language and the study of Middle Eastern culture.
After her promotion to Associate Professor in 2010, she was appointed Director of the Language Center and Director of the Arabic as a Foreign Language Program at Yarmouk University. Fluent in several languages, she has been a member of the Jordanian Translators Association since its establishment in 1993. Her research interests include American and British Literature, contemporary cultural issues, cultural heritage, and contemporary Arabic society. She was a member of our scientific committee in NTELT conferences.
