Jacques Couvas
Jacques Couvas is an international business consultant and academic. He has held CEO, COO, executive officer positions and board directorships with public and private U.S. and European multinational corporations in Europe, Middle East, North America and Asia in the telecommunications, hospitality, transportation and consulting industries. He has managed company financing and refinancing projects, the formation of joint ventures and strategic alliances, and has led two successful initial public offerings at Nasdaq.
Industry-related activities include chairing of, and work in standardization groups at the International Telecommunications Union of the UN, the European Telecommunications Standards Institute and the European Conference of Posts and Telecommunications, and lobbying the European Commission. He was elected Chairman of the European Mobile Messaging Association, 1994-2005, and has been a Fellow of the Institute of Directors (London). He is a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Business Administration, Bilkent University, Ankara and has taught as an Adjunct and Clinical Professor at Koç and Ozyegin Universities, Istanbul. His teaching and research subjects are business and corporate strategies, leadership, globalization, entrepreneurship, corporate governance, and international negotiations. He holds master’s degrees in Business Administration and Law and is completing a Ph.D. in EU Law.
